A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it. — Jean de La Fontaine

Good Morning everyone:

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers Day weekend with family and friends! It was great to see so many of you wonderful walkers on such a great day! It was a bit windy - but so cool & clear. The trek to Tiburon is really full of some of the most beautiful scenery we have in the Bay Area. Coming around the bend off of Blackies Pasture where we can look back as to see how far we have walked always blows me away! We really travel far!

Did everyone got a lovely lunch in Tiburon and a bit of window shopping in the sweet boutiques tucked away in town? The walk to Tiburon with its long flat stretches really feels different on my body the next day. The pads of my feet seem a little more sore and I seem to get wind burns/sun burns a little easier than walking in the city. I stayed back with the last walker when we got off the Ferry so I did not get to say goodbye to you all!

Just wanted to thank each and every one of you for your patience at every rest stop. I know it must have been hard to wait - but most of you did and I commend you for using that time to stretch, have a snack and meet/talk to new people. A couple of years ago, Linda gave me a beautiful necklace with the inscription, "It is not the destination - it is the journey". With all of the miles traveled together the journey together means most!

Phil and Eric (the best guys ever)....thanks alot for everything! You guys are always at the right place at the right time! The Tiburon walk is a long day for you both and a lot of miles on the vehicles. Thanks for giving so much to us! Phil....so happy that you found your "Route Support" jacket with your keys!

Also, Thanks Tanzeem for leading the walk with me! Love your energy, spirit and most of all your hearty, infectious laugh!Tanzeem wanted me to pass on the thanks to you all for your generosity in your contributions to the Hottie Fund that supports these amazing walks!

Take this week to rest and re-cooperate! A fine job All!

A neat article about one of our favorite topics WALKING ON HILLS!
"Walking uphill uses the muscles in the front of your thigh and in your buttocks, burning an extra 3-5 calories per minute over walking on the level." http://walking.about.com/od/howtowal1/a/uphill.htm?nl=1
