adding your bright light!

This weekend’s walks were a great mix of veteran and newbies, Avon and 3 Day walkers. We even have some old faces coming out of the woodwork to walk again this year! I am continually inspired by our collective determination and hope you are as well.

Thank you for coming to walk each week.
Thank you for adding your bright light to our community.
Thank you for walking to end breast cancer in our lifetime.

On Saturday 39 marvelous walkers tackled the Lyon Street stairs (hurrah!), the hill on West Pacific Ave. , the climb up Wedemeyer Rd. , the longer-than-I-remember hill up to the Legion of Honor and the Grande Finale..... Lincoln Hill! THAT is a great walk.

On Sunday 12 walkers meet in foggy Millbrae . The Saywer Camp trail is lovely – lush and peaceful with two good hills that rival Lincoln hill - we'll certainly go there again! It’s a treat to walk without stopping at stop signs and red lights for a change. We walked the 6 miles in 1 hour 20 minutes which is 4 miles/hour! I find hard to believe but Sandra had her GSP. Wowie. That is great as everyone should try to average 3.5 mph on the event itself to keep on pace with the closing times of the rest stops.

Keep stretching, keep hydrating, keep walking! Have a great week & hope to see you soon,
Linda

Upcoming Walks - Remember to please RSVP:
Sat 5/10 – 12 hilly miles - 7:00am - Warming Hut – Approx Finish: 12:00am
Sun 5/11 – 8 miles – 8:00am – Warming Hut – Approx Finish 11:00am

We invite you to join the Warming Hut Hottie Team! Unlike many college courses there are no prerequisites except having the heart of a hottie:
For the Avon Walk. Email the teams coordinator at teams.sanfrancisco@avonwalk.org and ask to be added to the team.
For the 3 Day: Call 800.996.3DAY or email bayareacoaches@the3day.org to be added to the team.

That was SUCH an awesome walk on Saturday. Thank you, Linda, for taking the time to design such a great course. It was challenging, but worth every single step. See you soon! DS

If you know of anyone who's interested in participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day this year but does not want to walk, we're looking for volunteer crew members for all positions, including medical professionals. Crew members commit four full days (Thursday to Sunday) and must be 18 years or older. Anyone interested in joining the crew can contact coaches@the3day.org or 800.996.3DAY.
