Hello my fellow 3 Dayers - What a phenomenal day we had at the Expo! Many of you traveled from quite a distance and your dedication to the 3 Day event is inspiring. I hope you all feel invigorated after Saturday's tremendous training walk with close to 300 of your fellow walkers participating.
I have gotten a few questions about where we walked: the route took us up the 163 Moraga mosaic stairs, then up 200+ more stairs to Grand View Park/Turtle Hill, through the inner Sunset neighborhood, out through Golden Gate Park past Stow Lake, along Ocean Beach finishing with a slow and steady climb up Noriega Ave. - 24 blocks over 1.5 miles with 252 ft elevation gain! - back to Lincoln High School. Congratulations to you all!
Please take care of yourself if this was your first long walk and you are still sore - keep hydrating, stretching & tend to your blisters. Ice and Advil if you are more than sore. This walk was a good test of your gear, shoes, pack, snacks and hydration. You have plenty of time between now and the event to go out and find the best equipment for you and your body – and ROAD TEST it! The only way you’ll know what works for you is to get out on the open road and walk.
The hotties train consistently and on challenging routes (with hills!) By doing so we know how best to take care of ourselves while we walk so we can really enjoy the event weekend. It doesn’t matter how you get your training miles in - just keep walking and we’ll see you on the road in Steptember!
Thank you for walking with us and for sharing our vision of a world without breast cancer in our lifetime.
For all the Warming Hut Hotties, walk on!
